Just a few kilometers downhill stood the Kedu Residency Office in Magelang, near the gentle flow of the Progo River. Magelang, My Childhood Town Magelang — the town of my childhood. Calm, cool, and clean, with air so pure it carried the scent of serenity. Its people lived simply: civil servants, farmers, merchants, and soldiers. Many of my childhood friends would later enter the Military Academy at Panca Arga, at the southern foot of Mount Tidar. Magelang was a garrison town.
