Between Abundance and Struggle

Imagine a land blessed beyond measure: the fourth most populous nation in the world, standing at the edge of a demographic bonus that many countries can only dream of. A country bathed in sunlight almost all year, with vast fertile lands, rich biodiversity, and treasures beneath the earth—minerals, gas, hydro, rare earth elements, and so on. Truly, Indonesia is a land of abundance, a gift from the Creator.

But here’s the paradox: while the nation is rich in resources, millions of its people wake up each day facing poverty. For them, survival is not optional. They cannot afford to pause even for a single day, because tomorrow’s meal depends on today’s struggle.

The Political Landscape  

At the level of power, democracy here has taken on a peculiar form. Parties multiply, each claiming to represent freedom in its fullest sense. Yet, the winner often behaves as though victory grants the right to take everything—unchecked, unchallenged. Voices of conscience, those who remind leaders of their true duty, are silenced, sometimes even violently.

This is not democracy as envisioned by its founders, but democracy bent to the will of those who see power as possession, not responsibility.

The Blindness of Power  

Why is it so difficult for winners of this “rigged” democracy to admit what they do not know? Why can’t they humbly entrust leadership to those with proven integrity, ethics, and a track record of serving the public—even if political views differ? After all, we are one nation.

True leadership is not about domination, but about stewardship. It is about recognizing that power is borrowed from the people, not owned outright.

The Broken Trias Politica  

Indonesia’s constitutional promise of checks and balances—the Trias Politica—falters. Law enforcement is selective, weak, and inconsistent. In the marketplace of governance, legal certainty is simply not convincing. Without justice, democracy becomes hollow, and without accountability, abundance becomes meaningless.

Reflection  

So here we stand: a nation of immense potential, yet weighed down by mismanagement and inequality. The Creator has given Indonesia everything it needs to thrive. What remains is the human task—the courage to govern with integrity, the humility to serve, and the wisdom to see that abundance is not for the few, but for all.

  1 Maret 2026 kemarin, kami mendapat kehormatan diundang oleh Bapak Udaya Halim, pendiri sekaligus ketua Yayasan Benteng Heritage, dalam perayaan Imlek. Acara ini bukan sekadar perayaan, tetapi sebuah perjalanan menelusuri jejak sejarah panjang komunitas Tionghoa di Tangerang. BUMN, Pekerjaan, dan ROI Kekuasaan

  Saudaraku, mencari pekerjaan di negeri ini tidak pernah mudah. Skill terbatas, pengalaman minim, dan persaingan yang begitu padat membuat banyak orang merasa tersisih. Bayangkan, setiap tahun Indonesia melahirkan 700–800 ribu sarjana baru. Fresh graduates terutama harus berjuang keras, sementara profesional berpengalaman tetap menghadapi jalan terjal bila credential mereka tidak sesuai dengan posisi yang diincar. “Salah satu jalan yang dianggap menggiurkan adalah melamar ke BUMN.
